Why did we form? We formed in the spring of 2025 with the idea of change in the service dog community. When I had received my service dog in 2024, it was one of the best and worst experiences of my life. I had received a beautiful German Shepherd that saved my life the night I brought her home. I also had a very poor experience with everything from the temperament of the dog, to the lack of training I was receiving for my dog. The stress of training your own service dog without any knowledge, experience, or support, is very stressful and I was feeling like I was back at square one. After 8 Years as an Infantryman, time in the 10th MTN division, and 4th infantry division, and being diagnosed with PTSD, I thought, “No way… I can’t be weak.” The night I received Kona, I had a plan to become one of the 22 veterans that end the battle at home. I could not end up at square one again. Kona was my guardian and it’s been a life changing experience training her. I want to make sure veterans that receive a service dog from us never worry about losing their dog. Veterans that we work with will never be at square one in their battle at home.

Why a service dog?    Every veteran knows, from day one in your enlistment, you are asked one question. “Where is your battle buddy?” You both looked out for each other daily. Most of us come home to emptiness without that battle buddy. With one of our fully trained service dogs, you will never be alone again. You will have a battle buddy again watching out for you, taking that emptiness and making life whole again.
